The idea of discretion sits quietly behind much of what we create. Not the idea that intimacy should be hidden away, but that something can be personal, sensual, or private without needing to announce itself.
That thinking appears across Deudare in different ways: in the book, in the lingerie, and in the art. Each is a different expression of the same idea: that something can be visible without revealing everything.
A little hidden in plain sight.
The book began with a simple question: why should an intimate object have to be hidden away?
A book already has a natural place within a home. It can sit on a coffee table, beside the bed, or amongst art, photography, fashion, and design. Unless you know what is inside, it simply becomes part of the environment.
That is what made the format interesting to us. The book is not simply packaging around the object, but part of how the object is experienced, stored, and kept. Something designed to remain long after it has been opened.
Its meaning belongs to the person who owns it. To everyone else, it is simply a book.
Much of luxury lingerie is designed around anticipation, only to be removed when intimacy begins. We were interested in what could happen if the garment did not have to disappear entirely.
On selected Deudare pieces, removable cups allow the body to be revealed while the lingerie remains. The transformation becomes part of the experience, allowing something elegant and restrained in one setting to become something entirely different in another.
The idea is simple: removing something does not always have to mean taking everything off.
The art was created with the same sense of permanence. Not as an insert or decoration, but as something intended to exist beyond the object it accompanies.
Each work is designed to be kept, framed, and gradually become part of a wider Deudare collection. Over time, the ambition is for the art to develop a visual language of its own, recognisable without needing the name attached.
Beautiful enough to exist openly within a home, while carrying another meaning for those who know what it represents.
